Demo Discovery Data

Overview

The Discovery module allows users to import a complete set of demo data to simulate real-world analytics and insights. This helps users explore different features such as app analytics, mission goals, user journeys, and task tracking all with realistic pre-configured data.

How to Import Demo Data

Navigate to the Discovery page in the portal.
Click the three-dots menu (⋮) in the top-right corner.
Select the Import option.
In the dialog, paste the Import Discovery Data key.
Confirm to start the import process.
Once confirmed, the demo data starts loading and you see the message: “Demo data will appear in your Discovery dashboards within 15 minutes.”

Open the three-dots menu at the top right of the Discovery page and select Import.

What Happens After Import

Demo data appears under Discovered Apps and Company Apps.
Each app includes metrics such as:
• Data Classification
• Business Process
• PII Inflow Risk
• PII Outflow Risk
• Business Capability
• Complete User Metrics
• Overall App Analytics across countries, departments, and organizational units

These columns represent how real applications are analyzed and categorized in Discovery.

Mission Hub

Demo missions and goals are created automatically.
Each mission includes progress tracking, goal details, and performance analytics — helping users understand how organizational missions are structured and monitored.

App Graph

• Pre-configured journey maps display user activity and navigation patterns across applications.
• Users can explore interactive visual graphs showing how different apps and users connect.

Tasks

Sample tasks are generated with demo data including:
• Title, Assigned User, Linked App, Priority, Status, Due Date, and Description.
• This helps users understand task creation, assignment, and email notification features.
• A demo email is triggered automatically to the assigned user when a task is created.

Discovery - Demo Capabilities

When you import Discovery demo data, some of the discovered applications already have business capabilities (BC) assigned. This gives you a realistic preview of how business capabilities work before you apply them to your own applications.

View and Edit Business Capabilities

Open the application list

In Discovery, open the App Overview tab and select Discovered or Company.
In the Business Capabilities column, colored chips show the capabilities assigned to each application. Black chips, such as “3 Suggestions”, show how many suggested capabilities are waiting for review.

2. Open the application’s business capabilities

Open the menu (⋮) next to an application and click Edit.
Select the Business Capability tab. The capabilities currently assigned to the application are selected in the list.

3.Change the assigned capabilities
To accept a suggestion, select it under Business Capabilities suggestions.
Select any other capability you want to add, or clear any you don’t want.
Click Save.

Result: The Business Capabilities column updates with your changes. Your selections are kept when the nightly job runs and are not overwritten.

Re-import Demo Data

If you delete and re-import the demo data:

• Business capabilities are reassigned based on the fresh demo mapping.

• Your previous selections are not kept, so you get a clean demo each time.

Expected Outcome

After successful import:
• The Discovery dashboard will be fully populated with demo data.
• Users can navigate through all sections — Applications, Business Capabilities, Mission Hub, App Graph, and Tasks — with realistic analytics.
• All graphs, statistics, and lists will function as they would with live data.

The user experiences Discovery’s complete ecosystem in an interactive, guided environment.
