Avatar Menu Items
Overview
The Avatar menu Items setting controls the order in which content types appear in the menu of the AppNavi Avatar for an application. Place the content your users need most at the top so they find it first.
You change the order with drag and drop in the application settings. The order is saved for that application only.
When to use this setting
- Prioritize important content: Show the content types your users open most often at the top of the menu.
- Support a rollout or onboarding: Move Routes to the top while users learn a new application, and move Search or Knowly up once they need quick answers more than step-by-step guidance.
- Match each application: Different applications can have different menu orders, depending on how their users work.
Before you begin
- You need access to Guidance in the AppNavi Portal with permission to edit application settings.
- The application must already exist in the AppNavi Portal. See Create your first Application.
Which items appear in the list
The section shows only the features that are enabled for the application. Depending on your configuration, these can include Routes, Posts, Collections, Pins, Search and Knowly.
To show or hide an item, enable or disable the feature in the upper part of the same settings dialog. A disabled feature is removed from the Avatar menu and is not shown in the Avatar menu Items section. For details about each feature, see Guidance Features.
Change the order of menu items
- In the AppNavi Portal, select Guidance in the main menu.
- Select the Applications tab.
- Find the application and select the ⋮ menu next to it to open its settings. The Settings for dialog of the application opens.
- Optional: In the upper part of the dialog, enable or disable features to choose which items appear in the Avatar menu.
- Scroll down to the Avatar menu Items section.
- Drag and drop the items into the order you want.
- Select Save.

Expected result: After you save, the Avatar for this application shows the menu items in the new order. Users do not need to change anything themselves.
Note: Changes are applied only when you select Save. If you select Cancel or close the dialog, the previous order is kept.
Example: Put Routes first for an onboarding
Your company is rolling out a new application and wants new users to start with guided Routes. Users who have questions should find Knowly next, and Posts are less important during the rollout.

Open Guidance → Applications, select the ⋮ menu of the application, and open its settings.

Scroll to Avatar menu Items.

Drag Routes to the first position, Knowly to the second position, and Posts to the last position.

Select Save.
Result: Users of this application now see Routes first and Knowly second in the Avatar menu, with Posts at the end.
Common problems
| Problem | Cause | Solution |

| The new order does not appear in the Avatar | The changes were not saved | Open the settings again, reorder the items and select Save. |
| A menu item is missing from the list | The feature is disabled for this application | Enable the feature in the upper part of the settings dialog, then save. |
| The order is different in another application | The order is saved per application | Repeat the steps in the settings of each application. |
