Discovery ASK

AppNavi Discovery is introducing the ASK (Analyze Search Know) feature to simplify how users analyze discovered applications and usage data. Instead of manually searching through dashboards and reports, users can ask questions in natural language and receive clear, human-readable answers. The solution follows the same secure architecture as Insights, where OpenAI supports query interpretation and response generation while all customer data processing remains inside the AppNavi AWS environment, ensuring full privacy and compliance.

Feature Toggle and Settings

A new Discovery-level configuration setting, “Enable Discovery AI Features” (On / Off), will be introduced to control the availability of the ASK feature within the Discovery module. This setting is dependent on the existing Tenant-level Enable AI Features and cannot function independently.

  • The ASK feature will only be accessible when the Tenant-level AI setting is enabled.
  • If the Tenant AI setting is turned Off, the ASK functionality will remain unavailable regardless of the Discovery-level setting configuration.
  • If the Tenant AI setting is On and the Discovery ASK setting is also enabled, the ASK tab will be visible in the Discovery module and users will have full access to its functionality.
  • However, if the Tenant AI setting is On but the Discovery ASK setting is disabled, the ASK tab will not be visible.

How Discovery Ask Works

The ASK tab is designed to provide users with a simple and user-friendly way to interact with Discovery data through natural-language questions. It includes an input field where users can enter business-related questions in plain language, such as identifying application trends, usage changes, or category-based app analysis. A Run button is provided to execute the request and process the query. Once submitted, the system displays the results in a dedicated response section, which includes a clear natural-language answer for easy understanding. The relevant result items such as application lists, metrics tables, and trend summaries are displayed. This functionality eliminates the need for manual filtering and complex dashboard navigation, allowing users to access insights faster and more efficiently.
